The Pet Painting Process... from Start to Finish and my video

STEP 1: After the canvas is primed and dry, I draw the pictures of the pets in pencil from the best photos that are provided by the customer. Nancy requested a pet portrait of just the head shots of their 3 dogs; Mickey, Brody and Dundee on a 24 x 36 canvas.

STEP 2: After painting the background according to the customer's request, I paint the first dog in the back of the pet painting, Mickey.

STEP 3: When Mickey is completed,
I paint the second dog in the back, Dundee.

STEP 4: Brody is painted last because he is in the foreground, in front of the other 2 dogs.
When the painting is complete I sign it and let it dry.

STEP 5: When the painting is fully dry,
it is given 2 coats of varnish to enhance the colors and protect and preserve the pet painting.

STEP 6: I take a series of photos and then decide which one best represents the finished painting. That photo is emailed to the customer for their approval and that is when the final payment is made.
